Badder Mohammed is a young Emirati from Dubai who is very passionate about photography. He was born in Dubai and spent most of his life in Al Ain. Photography sparked Badder’s interest back in 2009. His interest evolved from a spark to an ember that captures the beauty of nature. By extensive research on the internet he developed his basic photography skills, and through his interest and dedication he continued to improve his talent.
Badder's passion fuels his engine that runs on enjoyment and the challenges he faces when capturing the magnificence of wildlife in particular. Badder devotes a lot of time to photography and you will often find him setting up his tent away from the city just before sunrise preparing to capture the beauty of birds. Moreover, Badder’s sense of wonder and his connection with nature give him the drive to frequently visit natural reserves and carry his heavy gear with him when travelling. Badder has also volunteered to document the wildlife conservation efforts of a government agency since 2015.
Badder participated in many exhibitions, workshops and competitions. In addition, he has won many local awards and one international award. Stating the factors that contribute to a powerful wildlife photo, Badder says, “Two key factors lead to a successful image: knowledge of the subject at hand and patience.” He also adds jokingly, “Lucky photographers need neither of them though!"Badder believes that he could not have succeeded as a photographer without the encouragement of his family and the support he received from other photographers. He also expresses gratitude to the UAEU in supporting talented students and appreciating art.
He organized a charity photography gallery at UAEU where he sold his photographs in support of the Year of Giving initiative that was declared by the UAE's President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The UAE is well known for its philanthropic activities and helping the less fortunate worldwide. As His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed affirmed, designating the year 2017 as the Year of Giving mirrors the approach adopted by the UAE ever since its formation, an approach based on helping others without expecting anything in return.
This gallery aims at promoting the culture of giving back by harnessing art for philanthropy and donating all its funds to the UAE Red Crescent Authority.
